Plant Safety in the Workplace Manual

Team Leaders and Supervisors play a large part in ensuring that Employers meet obligations in providing information and training to all Employees. The best people to identify hazards and recommend risk control measures in existing plant are, more often than not, the people working with the Plant. This manual provides guidance in the use of various EMP documentation to facilitate Team Leader / Team Member training.

Plant Safety Records Book

To complement EMPís Management and Team Leader approach to employee facilitation and training, a Plant Safety Records Book has been developed to manage hazard identification risk assessment and risk control media and exhibit proof of compliance. It is introduced during an initial training programme.

Project Managers Handbook

Project Managers responsible for projects that include the supply and installation of Plant will be concerned with the National Standard for Plant, the "National Standard" and the States Plant Safety Regulations, "States Regulations" . The health and safety of end users of plant must be considered carefully and in a structured manner. The health and safety of all personnel is to be considered from initial design through to final commissioning, and duties in respect of that which are prescribed for Designers, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Importers, Installers/Erectors and Employers.

This Handbook is designed to assist in:
Ensuring that the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning satisfy all requirements of the National Standard and the States Regulations.
Providing proof of compliance in a performance based, self-regulating
environment.

Understanding the Duties of Designers, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Importers, Installers/Erectors and Employers.
Providing media to demonstrate that Project Managers have
exercised "duty of care" with regard to the supply, installation and
commissioning of Plant.

Setting up procedures for ensuring that all suppliers of components for the project comply with the National Standard and the States Regulations .
Monitoring a project to ensure compliance with the National Standard and the
States Regulations
Providing a Client with all occupational health and safety information required
under the National Standard and the States Regulations .

Developing a Project Records Book for the Client, to be used for consultation
and employee training and in the development of an ongoing Plant Safety
programme in the operational environment.
